FIDM Fashion Design Student on The Price is Right!

Priceisrightdrewcareyfidmstudent_3

Just when we thought we couldn't be any happier to see our very own Leanne Marshall on Bravo's smash hit show Project Runway, we were ecstatic to see another member of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising family, Alicia Furio, on CBS's The Price is Right!

A Fashion Design Major at FIDM Los Angeles, Alicia was offered some of the most amazing prizes we've ever seen. The first contestant to make it on to the stage, Alicia won a Tuff Stuff home gym worth $2,599!

Her luck continued with a great spin on the big wheel, earning her a place in the highly-coveted showcase showdown. In that round, and facing off against another big winner, Alicia gave it her best effort, and just barely missed winning over $56,000 in great prizes.

Decked out in her campus badge, Alicia even told host Drew Carey that she was a proud FIDM student. You go, girl! We're proud of you, too!

Contest Winner Day 12: 12 Days of Giving

Nora F. is the winner of Friday's prize--a PlayStation Portable Pack! Here's her essay on how she'd spend $100 on the charity of her choice, if she owned her own fashion company:

If I could donate money to any charity organization, it would be The Africa Project. The Africa Project is an organization that adopted a village in Africa and works within the village to improve it. Those involved with the Africa Project hope that one day, the village will serve as a model community throughout Africa. The needs of the people are immense. AIDS has had a devastating effect on the people, and it has left many orphaned children. Many of these children have AIDS themselves. This organization not only works to raise awareness about the effects in Africa; they truly get involved with their work. I recently attended a conference about AIDS awareness led by this organization. We watched part of a heart wrenching documentary, about the orphans in Nkandla. This organization doesn’t just raise the funds to give to the cause; they work for their dreams to be realities. So much is going wrong in the world this holiday season, it is overwhelming. By beginning small, goals of a better world can be fulfilled. I believe The Africa Project is a good beginning. --Nora F.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful entries! Next week we'll be announcing which charitable organization, from among the 12 winning entries, will be receiving our donation of $100. Happy New Year from The FashionClub.com Team! --KIM
