Nora F. is the
winner of Friday's prize--a PlayStation Portable Pack! Here's her essay on how she'd spend $100 on the charity of her
choice, if she owned her own fashion company:
If I could donate money to any charity organization, it would be The
Africa Project. The Africa Project is an organization that adopted a
village in Africa and works within the village to improve it. Those
involved with the Africa Project hope that one day, the village will
serve as a model community throughout Africa. The needs of the people
are immense. AIDS has had a devastating effect on the people, and it
has left many orphaned children. Many of these children have AIDS
themselves. This organization not only works to raise awareness about
the effects in Africa; they truly get involved with their work. I
recently attended a conference about AIDS awareness led by this
organization. We watched part of a heart wrenching documentary, about
the orphans in Nkandla. This organization doesn’t just raise the funds
to give to the cause; they work for their dreams to be realities. So
much is going wrong in the world this holiday season, it is
overwhelming. By beginning small, goals of a better world can be fulfilled. I
believe The Africa Project is a good beginning. --Nora F.
