The Eiffel Tower is quintessentially Paris—embraced by artists (and fashionistas!) around the world as a symbol of grace, style, and elegance.
Mais oui, it wasn't always considered a thing of beauty. Did you know when the Eiffel Tower was first built, many thought it was an eyesore. In fact, according to Wikipedia, novelist Guy de Maupassant, ate lunch at the Tower's restaurant every day. When asked why, he said it was the one place in the city you couldn't see the tower! LOL. –Gigi
