Moroccanoil Sponsors Book Launch: Robert Vetica’s “Good to Great Hair”

This post is dedicated to those of you interested in studying Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing.

One of the more fabulous facets of beauty marketing is sponsoring events, like the launch of Robert Vetica’s book: “Good to Great Hair.” Moroccanoil was the beauty sponsor, gifting every guest full-size product. Celebs in attendance included Salma Hayek, Debra Messing, Rose McGowan, and Anil Kapoor (of “Slumdog Millionaire” fame).

It’s a great way to get your product in the hands of celebs and influential people in the media. Plus you get your logo in the “step and repeat,” which is the backdrop that celebs stand in front of to get photographed. Check out the photos from the event below.

And The Winner Is...

Congratulations to the winner of our 4th MySpace Exclusive Contest, Elizabeth Ewing from Fresno, Texas!

Elizabeth's entrepreneurial idea knocked our socks off, and her dedication to education and the pursuit of her dreams was overwhelming!

She will walk away with an autographed copy of Lessons of a Lipstick Queen: Finding and Developing the Great Idea that Can Change Your Life by beauty business entrepreneur, Poppy King! We know that Elizabeth will go far with this book at her disposal!

MySpaceExclusiveContest4FIDMsAutographedLipStickQueenGiveawayLessonsofaLipstickQueenFindingandDevelopingTheGreatIdeaThatCanChangeYourLifePoppyKing

Here is an excerpt from her winning essay...

"In order to start the vision for my company, I plan on entering FIDM's Los Angeles campus for the Spring of 2010 in the Associate of Arts Degree Program for Fashion Design. I would then like to further my education with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Footwear and Jewelry Design, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.

The name of my company would be One of A Kind. What makes this company so unique from all the other successful companies, is it's range of style, clothing, and variety of sizes for each style. I know from experience, that it is such a hassle to find clothes that fit you in the right places, and make you look and feel good. At One of A Kind, it won't matter what size you are; if it doesn't fit you perfectly, you can get it altered any way you like at the store.

MySpaceExclusiveContest4FIDMsAutographedLessonsofaLipstickQueenGiveawayWinnerElizabethEwing

One of A Kind starts at Gothic and ends at Couture. Each style will have its own fashion team that is highly qualified to design for that style. For example, a person applying to work at One of A Kind, who use to work for Terri King would work in the Gothic area. Someone who used to work for Burberry, would work in the Sophisticated-Chic area, etc.

The customer will come first, so if a customer feels they can't find what they are looking for, they could go to a fashion consultant at the store, who works in their desired style area. This person would help sketch out a design that will fit the customers personality. The sketch would then be sent to the company's seamstress who will create the design, and send back the finished garment!

I consider this to be the best idea for a company because it's fun, stress- free and for anyone and everyone."

Way to go, Elizabeth! I hope we are invited to the grand opening!!
