Return of the Tie Bar

When men stopped wearing suits every day, the tie bar went into hiding. But thanks to designers like Thom Browne, who have brought retro formality back to men’s fashion design, the tie bar is making a comeback. Besides adding a welcome dash of flair, they also serve the practical purpose of keeping a tie from flying into the wind, or today’s lunch. As you can see, jewelry designers are definitely inspired by this tie bar resurgence.

Customization: The Latest Thing in Fashion

In our modern age of mass production, it can be a little difficult to stand out from the crowd. People are looking for something different to be unique. Customization is key. 

Nobody understands this better than the fashion industry. Big names like Reebok and Nike are capitalizing on the trend.

And smaller companies are making a business out of it as well. Check out indidenim.com where you can design your own jeans.

But the most creative use of customization I've seen lately is by Scribble Couture. They have made a business out of proud mommy behavior. You can upload a child's drawing to their website and have it embroidered on a bag.

But, who's to say you can't upload a cute sketch from your boyfriend or handwritten note from a BFF? Hmmm...could be a good gift idea!

Get the Look: Blake Lively

The boyfriend blazer is so hot right now. Last week Blake Lively was spotted in New York styled out in the perfect way to wear it.

It's important to balance out the masculine nature of the blazer with something ultra-feminine, like patterned tights and knee-high boots!

I did a little scouting around and found out Blake's boots are by Chinese Laundry. While they are no longer available in gray, they do have a similar boot in that color. I went ahead and put a whole outfit together to show how easy it is to get this look.

Pick out an extra-long blazer, like this from Top Shop for $125.

Forever 21 has great boyish shorts. These are just $19.80.

And then there are the patterned tights, the must-have item of the season. You can find them on mytights.com for $20.43.

And some Chinese Laundry boots $119 complete the outfit.
