Fragrance Trends: Cali Blue Has a Cause

Do you like this story?

Cali BlueFragrance designer and FIDM Instructor André Barnwell is our guest beauty blogger, reviewing fragrances and reporting on fragrance trends. André says...

Cali Blue is a unisex fragrance inspired by the Pacific Ocean. It has top notes of lemon, mandarin orange, and bergamot; middle notes of lily, lavender, rose, and jasmine; and base notes of amber, vanilla, musk, and sage. Cali Blue comes in a 1.7 eau de parfum spray for $36.

The fragrance has a great cause attached to it, too. Ten percent of sales from Cali Blue will go to building fresh water wells in Third World countries. You can read more about this on the AromaEarth website.

Interesting sidenote: unisex fragrances aren't typically classified as being eau de parfum; the eau de parfum classification is usually associated with female fragrances.

André Barnwell is a fragrance designer and instructor at FIDM who teaches Fundamentals of Fragrance in the Beauty Industry Merchandising & Marketing Program.
