Tell us a bit about yourself. I'm an 18 year-old kid at heart out of Newport Beach, California. Throughout my life I've always been surrounded by business and the arts, both of which are passions of mine. All that I see I relate to either two of those focuses. Over the past few years I have found a common ground with the California surfing lifestyle capturing the art, music, and vibe of the atmosphere then on top of it seeing how brands like RVCA and LRG have translated it all into clothes has motivated me to take the paths I've chosen.
Otherwise I love doing a lot of things like traveling. I exploit every opportunity I get to see something new, meet people, and to gain inspiration. Also surfing and hockey are huge parts of who I am. I've learned a lot of lessons from both, such as always being hungry for improvement, picking yourself up when you fall down, and most importantly how to just have fun. I'd also say both serve as escapes from stress. It's amazing to me how at peace I am when I step into the water and paddle out or lace up the skates and shoot pucks -- easily the best medicines.
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? Over the past few months I've been starting a clothing line, REFL3CT, that should be launching some time early in 2012. The progress and vision that I've seen form into reality thus far has been pretty mind blowing so I'd say that it definitely is up there along with my athletic, leadership, art, and academic achievements.
What made FIDM right for you? I believe success is all about doing what you love and quite frankly I don't think any other school in the nation can provide the opportunity and experience that FIDM can. I will be stoked to go to school every day.
What are your career goals? To build a powerhouse brand within the surf industry.
What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I expect to get the opportunity to learn all the different aspects of the clothing industry at fashion college. Furthermore, to gain an understanding of what makes it tick and what makes its gears spin. The way I see it, the real expectations are upon me to take advantage and seize whatever opportunities are given to me, and then put 110 percent into it.
