Tell us a bit about yourself. I'm your average creativity loving, fashion admiring, musically enthusiastic 18 year-old really. Ever since I was young I've wanted to have my own clothing line to design and produce apparel that hundreds of different varieties of people would love to wear. Then as I grew older I learned, and am learning, more about the business end of things, and I think there's definitely no end to the possibilities available to us in life to make yourself successful.
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? I've been involved in Mission Viejo High School Drama for four years and have won several awards at various theatre festivals, helped design shirts and fundraise for the Passion For Creation club at my school, and having started the process of creating my clothing line Infinite Expression would be a few of my mentionable achievements. But thats not to say I don't plan on expanding this list soon.
What made FIDM right for you? Everything about FIDM made it right for me really. My Admissions Advisor Mrs. Kim was a huge help in convincing me that it was a perfect outlet for my passion, and being accepted just made it all the sweeter. I knew it was a place where my daydream-like thoughts and creative expression could be harnessed into something that would be there to help me through the rest of my life.
Describe your entrance project. I was supposed to create a fictitious apparel company and talk about what the products would look like, who it would be targeted towards, and some general profit margins, but to me the project was about much more. I based my project upon the brand that I've wanted to begin since my childhood, Infinite Expression. To my satisfaction, describing my entrance project in my admissions interview went smoothly because I knew exactly what I was talking about. For me it wasn't just a project, it was a dream.
What are your career goals? I hope to eventually own a brand that not only sets trends in the society of today, but also lasts with the times as some brands don't, and set trends for the future. When the world knows my vision, I would consider myself satisfied. If they accept it lovingly, however, is another topic.
What do you expect to learn at FIDM? I expect to be given the tools that I'll need in the future to become successful, to be assisted by some of the best minds in the industry, and to hopefully meet lifelong contacts who love the same thing as me, expression.
