Just Accepted Student Victoria Ceballos is a Styling Star
Do you like this story?
Age: 17 years old
Major: Visual Communications
Admissions Advisor: Joni Ahrenholtz
Campus: FIDM San Diego
What are your proudest accomplishments so far? Starting a business for styling and creative directing for photo shoots, fashion shows, and magazine editorials. So far I have done dozens of photo shoots and am now working with photographer Josue Pena who does amazing photography, and model Barbie Billman, who has walked for Michael Kors. My business is called Victoria Cassinova (artistic fashion design). I have also begun sewing gowns and clothing for photo shoots coming up, one dress I am very proud of.
What made FIDM the right college for you? Creativity and inspiration are what I live off of and FIDM is filled with new opportunities and a challenge to further my abilities to create.
Describe your FIDM entrance project: It was a window display for the store Free People. I like to use a lot of texture and crafts for a 3-D feel, so I used actual fabric from Free People and cut-outs from their catalogs. I glued the cut-out models in to look like they were in a forest of fabrics, jewels, and butterflies. I was also inspired by Anthropologie, my second obsession, with their innovation on visual imaging for their window displays. I had cut-outs of my favorite Jeffery Campbell Litas, an actual necklace piece for wall décor, and clothing hanging on chain racks. I like to make things very unique and almost tribal.
What are your career goals? To become an inspiration in the fashion industry, coming up with new innovations for photo shoots, interior designing for stores, window displays, as well as running an extremely successful business for Victoria Cassinova. My goal is to someday be the stylist who put the outfits together in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue’s editorial sections.
How will FIDM help you accomplish your goals? FIDM will dig me deeper into understanding how this industry works as far as the visual communication aspects and fashion merchandising. FIDM will also give me the experience I need in hopefully getting an internship with a huge company and getting in contact with significant individuals who see the dream that I see in what I plan on becoming.
