Tell us a little about yourself: I'm a 21 year old guy who enjoys drawing, photography, dressing up for no apparent reason and watching movies with subtitles.
What is an accomplishment you are most proud of? Sewing up a skirt for the very first time. I didn't get to wear it but I did get to show it off.
Favorite Knitwear Designer or Favorite Designer: Nicolas Ghesquiere of Balenciaga (womens) & Michael Bastian and Miharayasuhiro (mens)
Upcoming trend/item you're secretly coveting: Stockton Racer Jacket by J. Crew ($795!)
Do you have a style icon? I tend to get inspiration from strangers in the street, sometimes homeless people have really great style that I want to emulate.
What is the most beloved item in your wardrobe? Schott wool peacoat that i got for almost 80% off.
How did you choose FIDM? I was supposed to go to Otis (art college) but decided that fashion is more of a passion than art so I looked into fashion colleges in the area and sort of stumbled into FIDM, thanks to a friend who also goes here. After seeing the college and meeting the people, everything just sort of fell into place.
How did you choose your major? I initially wanted to do Merchandise Marketing but after seeing my admission project, my adviser told me that Product Development would be the right path for me because of my creative side.
What do you expect to gain from attending FIDM? Knowledge of the industry, possible future partners/contacts, career advice, and my money's worth.
What has been your favorite class so far? Principles for Design & Development, just because we get to design our own line from concept to consumer.
What is your ultimate career goal after graduating from FIDM? Right now I want to become a Senior buyer for Menswear.
What advice would you give to students looking to be accepted into FIDM? I think as long as you're hardworking and really have a passion for the art of fashion, you will have no trouble getting accepted.
