I so loved the hats I found last week, I decided to look again for more amazing hats among the hundreds or thousands on Etsy.com.
Etsy.com is a site where anyone can sell hand-made or found objects. Most of the items are one-of-a-kind, but some can be reproduced.
Most things are quite inexpensive, as well.
Above is the What A Little Devil Beanie, by misfitts13, which I love because:
1. My mother made me the same hat (I'm a lucky little devil!)
2. Halloween is coming up
3. It's only $15!
What else can I say? It's fun to wear, I can tell you that!
Look! A hat for a dude!
Dudes really get left out when it comes to interesting and unusual clothing. Which is sad.
But this Red Spider Snowboarder Hat by twistedharefiberarts is 100% wool and has a giant red spider, red ties and trim, and she says, "You can't miss this one on the slopes!" It's only $18.
This guy is not just wearing this hat, he is owning it!
I like this hat so much, I'm going to include another hat by twistedharefiberarts. It's the goth in me -- what can I say?
I just really like this Skull-n-Crossbones Snowboarder Hat.
I know:
1. Skulls have been a little overdone
2. I'm not a snowboarder
but I'd wear this or the other one to a nightclub on a chilly evening.
This hat is also $18.
And now for something completely different.
This hat is in the style of a "fascinator," a style of "hat" that's come in and out for either decades or centuries, I can't say which, but it's coming around again.
This particular hat is called the Marisol Fascinator by its maker, sewhandcrafted.
She says, "This fascinator is made from a cream headband embellished with a champagne hat with cream veil, pearl beads, and white hackle feathers."
Wear it with jeans to look incredibly feminine, or with a lovely tea or cocktail dress for vintage glamour. It's $24.99.
1. Nuts for polka dots
2. Crazy for the color red
3. A devotee of anything that evokes the 1920s
4. Sun-phobic
But this Red Handmade Cotton Cloche Sun Hat bycrochetbylorileigh caught my eye.
I think lorileigh has done a terrific job, and it's only $18.99.
This is more of a summer hat, of course, but spring is never all that far away!
For those of you familiar with, or practicing, the Gothic Lolita look, this hat may be a life-saver, fashion-wise.
I certainly know how hard it is to find a good Lolita hat!
This one is by teatimeinc and it's called the Crimson Velvet Lolita Top Hat.
It's covered in crimson velvet, topped with feathers and a chain that holds a heart pendant that actually opens.
It has a band of black elastic that goes under the back of the head to keep it secure -- in case you were wondering!
It's a reasonable $35 and the creator has lots of other styles of hats on her website that work with the Gothic Lolita look.
Well, that's the end of hats for this week. Do you create hats, or anything else? Then check out Etsy, where your future fans are looking for your work.
Will there be yet another week of hats? Time will tell! --Belissa
