Bravo's hit show, Top Design, premiered it's long-awaited second season, Wednesday night.
Starring celebrated model and design aficionado, India Hicks as the show's new host, the program reprised the presence of top interior designer, Todd Oldham, in his new role as mentor.
Entitled "Impress the Best" the season's first episode saw thirteen contestants break into four teams. The challenge was to design a loft according to the directions of the show's four judges, Jonathan Adler, India Hicks, Margaret Russell, and Kelly Wearstler. Adding to the pressure, the designers were limited to two days, and a two thousand dollar budget.
In the end, the only team with four members claimed victory, handing designers Ondine, Wisit, Nathan, and Teresa The Top Design for judge Kelly Wearstler's “Form Over Function” loft.
Hostess India Hicks' "Caribbean Classical" loft, meanwhile, was less than pleasing to the judges. Due largely in part to a scathing critique courtesy of his teammates, designer Serge, from Los Angeles, was eliminated from the competition.
Wherever excitement and design are found, FIDM is certain to be not far behind... and this season of Top Design is no exception! We're rooting for Former FIDM Student, Preston Lee, and are so thrilled for an upcoming challenge in which the designers will be creating spaces for Project Runway design stars!
FIDM Graduates and PR favorites, Santino Rice and Daniel Franco, will be two such design stars. We simply can't wait to see these two design worlds collide! Not to mention that this season of Top Design was filmed in lovely Los Angeles, where FIDM has an amazing campus and industry presence... Who knows how FIDM will leave its mark on this season of Top Design!
