Student Turns Chinos Into Corset for "Discarded to Divine" Event

Isn't it wonderful when creativity and skill go toward making the world a better place? Here, FIDM Student Rebecca Howard interprets Dale Chihuly's organic works, transforming seven pairs of women's chinos into a side-lacing corset. Rebecca hand-dyed and finished the chinos into her 100% recycled design, which will be available for auction at the "Discarded to Divine" Runway Show with proceeds to benefit the homeless.
"In addition to the recycled and dyed pants, the green canvas fabric was
created from fabric scraps collected after the cut and sew process," adds FIDM Fashion Design Department Coordinator Janice Paredes.
"Clippings were sorted by color and blended. This method ensures less
new dyes or harmful chemicals pollute our planet. Truly a 'green' design!"

It's amazing how you can still innovate in design. I just love it and going to get myself one. I think I saw a similar one on http://www.inspectorbeauty.com
