I thought cotton only came in white, but I was so wrong!
Though they have their roots in the ancient Americas, California inventor Sally Fox patented her own long-fiber colored cottons, called Fox Fibers.
The most interesting fact about color-grown cotton is that it does not fade. The colors grow richer and deeper with each washing.
It's used in such products as clothing, bedding, and furniture.
The earliest Americans (of Central America) cultivated at least 12 colors.
The bleaching and dyeing process used with most cotton, especially denim, is extremely toxic to the environment.
