It's the most stylish time of the year for our friends across the pond - London Fashion Week! Some of the UK's best-known designers are showing of what we'll be wearing come spring. Here are some looks that inspired us:
It was a rockin' party at the Matthew Williamson show - literally! Attendees were treated to an opening performance by none other than Prince! What followed the surprise mini-concert was a melange of bold, ethnic-inspired prints and feminine silhouettes.
In a vacant East End warehouse, 80s glam-rock and heavy metal twisted with 90s grunge when Henry Holland, designer for the Fashion East label showcased his Spring '08 collection. Not surprisingly, every club kid in London was in attendance to see the exaggerated shoulder pads, florescent colors, and reconstructed denim that the label is known for.
Swingy dresses, beautiful caftans, and sweet, braided updos dominated the runway at Allegra Hicks, who hobbled out to greet her guests in a walking cast. But the real show stopper was a liquid, gold gown fit for a Grecian princess!
Does being a good sport mean wearing amazingly cute athletic gear? That was certainly the case at Adidas by Stella McCartney! Golf wear took on a safari edge, tennis outfits became pretty and feminine, and jogging gear looked stylish enough to show off outside of the gym.
In a departure from the body-conscious looks he is known for, Christopher Kane sent ruffles and ruffles and even more ruffles down the runway at his show, unveiling his Spring '08collection to a full house that included Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. The crocodile and fatigue prints that were used for many of the pieces were sweetened with fluttery tiers of chiffon.
