Here's a hot tip: I recently signed up to receive the Green Girl Guide, a weekly online newsletter about fashion, beauty, and lifestyle products that are created through environmentally and socially conscious means. The Green Girls, Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff, Mia Wasilevich, and Courtney Owens Zielinski, created their website because they believe being “green” and fabulous shouldn’t be a hassle, but part of a
lifestyle. Their slogan is, "If green is the new black, shouldn't you know what you're wearing?"
And guess what? Not only am I upping my Green Quotient weekly, but The Green Girls actually sent subscribers a package of green products to try!
It was so fun to open the package. I received a Preserve toothbrush (handle made from 100% recycled plastic, and the used brush can be sent back to the company to be ground up into material to make recycled plastic lumber.) They're available at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and Trader Joe's, so there's nothing to stop me from buying them regularly. Nifty!
They sent me two products from The Laundress, a line of environmentally conscious laundry and fabric care products. I got a box of completely recyclable Dryer Sheets (most dryer sheets are not) that are made without the tallow derived from beef fat. Who knew that most dryer sheets are made with beef tallow? Definitely something all vegans should know.
I also received a bottle of Fabric Fresh, an antibacterial odor-removing spray. It comes in four scents: Classic, Baby, Lady, and Cedar.
The only thing better than free stuff must be free stuff that makes you feel good about the environment. Who says it isn't easy being green? Go Green Girls! -- Belissa
